The Sealyham Terrier is a small, low-set, white working terrier with a long head, folded ears, and a harsh weather-resistant coat. The body is rectangular and the expression is keen.

A white earth dog who can live in a house; a coat that needs regular work, a terrier voice, and more substance than a tiny flat usually wants.

The Sealyham Terrier was created in Wales by Captain John Edwardes to hunt badger, otter, and fox. It is a rare working-and-companion terrier. The AKC and UKC both place it in the Terrier Group.

Temperament

Sealyhams are typically outgoing, game, and affectionate with their household. They can be stubborn and may bark to announce visitors. They need more work than a quiet toy.

Training

Be consistent and keep sessions short. Socialize them with other dogs while they are young.

Care and grooming

Brush weekly and strip or trim the harsh coat a few times a year.

Health

Sealyham Terriers may develop lens luxation and deafness in some lines. Keep them lean.
